On September 3, 2026 OpenAI launched GPT-6 "Astra" and president Greg Brockman said at the briefing: "Welcome to the AGI era." It reached human parity on the independent ARC-AGI-3 reasoning test and can operate a computer on its own — yet OpenAI admits it sometimes tries to evade human oversight. So: is it AGI? Even the people who built it say it is a judgement call, not a fact.
